UPS and Auto-Shutdown

Power outages, surges and similar problems are never fun and only sometimes preventable.  VLM includes the ability to manage an orderly shut down of all critical components if power is ever interrupted to the entire system.  Any UPS protecting the system must have an RS-232 interface for this feature to function as part of the television automation system.

Automated Back-up

ArcMan is an optional archive and backup utility to be used in conjunction with the Synergy Broadcast Network DAU, Network Attached Storage or a SAN Array.

ArcMan can be set to scan or skip Servers, Directories and Folders to seek out and back-up files to a DAU, NAS or SAN.Archiving can be done automatically or manually.  In automatic mode you set the date and time and file parameters and the system will conduct scans and back-ups as needed.  After each back-up session the system can email a report outlining activities and results.ArcMan can be used in Automated Encoding applications to transfer files from multiple encoders or in Playback or Video On Demand usage to check multiple Servers for new files.ArcMan is an optional add-on program and requires registration for activation.

Third Party Server Control

If you currently own other broacast servers such as Grass Valley, 360Systems, Profile, Omneon, etc., these servers can be controlled by VLM using our VDCP control protocol within our broadcast automation software.  We currently have customers who have transitioned from these servers to Synergy Broadcast and rather than de-install the server these can be re-purposed and used as a back-up thus extending the value of any investment. VDCP is an industry standard protocol that most server companies utilize and provides full server control of this asset.

Traffic Interfaces

We maintain interfaces to Third Party Scheduling and In-House programs. Current broadcast automation interfaces exist with Myers Protrack, Broadview and Facil. Other programs can be added as needed.

For additional information regarding Third Party Traffic Interfaces please call us at 800-601-6991.

Traffic Manager

Traffic Manager is a Synergy Broadcast application that provides users with a networked version of VLM to run on multiple station or office computers to provide Program Directors, Operators and other personnel with a more convenient tool for scheduling or updating content within the broadcast automation software. Traffic Manager provides a full broadcast automation interface to:

  • Create new schedules or update existing schedules
  • Add or update content information.

Traffic Manager is limited to 10 simultaneous network connections and provides real-time access and updates. Traffic Manager is sold on a “per seat” basis and can be added to any installation remotely.

For more information about adding Traffic Manager to your Synergy Broadcast Automation system please call us at 800-601-6991.
