Video Delivery
Video Delivery to Maximize Bandwidth
Not all networks are created equal and not all school districts have enough bandwidth to deliver video on demand from a centralized source to all classrooms.
If daytime bandwidth is an issue or your IT department is concerned about the network bogging down during the day because teachers access YouTube or other Internet video sites there is another option.
One of the strengths of VideoCourier is it’s ability to automatically move content by file transfer to remote locations in off-peak hours. This enables a school district or service center to maximize bandwidth utilization at night when data traffic is quiet to move video content to remote servers at each school. Teachers then have access to content on their local servers for use in classrooms without impacting the district-wide network.
Using night-time bandwidth can double or triple bandwidth utilization for most organizations because this bandwidth is normally not used except during business hours. If a typical operational day is 7:00 am to 5:00 pm the network is busy for 10 hours. That leaves 14 hours of inactivity. Add weekends into the mix and organizations are paying for 100% of their network but only using 30%.
What would it cost to triple your daytime bandwidth to add realtime video without negatively impacting your network operations? What happens to efficiency if you can double or triple that bandwidth from your existing network?
