Periodic maintenance on all of the computers and servers in your system will extend their life and save you money in the long run. Here are some tips on things you should check or do with your system.

Check and clean the air filters in each computer at least once a month. These filters may be in the front or back of your computers and on the power supply. Use compressed air from a can or compressor to blow the dust and dirt away. Don't wash them in water.

Check the fans in each computer to make sure they are functional and blowing air. Check for fans in the front and rear as well as the power supplies of each computer. If you find one that is not working give Field Service a call for assistance.

Check the recycle bins on your encoders and empty the contents. You should probably do this weekly. For more information follow the link for Computer Maintenance.

Key changes include the addition of a database field for state curriculum codes. This will enable media librarians and teachers to assign curriculum codes to programs. These codes are also searchable using the WebCom web browser so teachers can more easily find relevant programming that meets state standards.

We improved the back-up program so VLM will create a new back-up each day and maintain the most recent seven days so if a problem occurs you can restore to a known good day during that period.

We recently completed a new telephone interface for Informa that enables viewers to use their telephone to request a specific project be aired. This is especially helpful for viewers that don't have access to a computer or the Internet but still need to know about the various services available to them.

A new Web Interface will soon be available that allows multiple authorized users to update projects with new information. Things like weather alerts, school and office closures, traffic updates and other similar activities. This software update will be provide FREE to all existing users as a thank you for being early adaptors and purchasing Informa or BugCrawler during their introduction. Thanks.
