Event Archive
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
VLM will save Events for 365 days. If you need to save Event activity longer you will need to implement a monthly or quarterly archive action to save these files.
Place the mouse on the Event Screen and right click. Select Export Events to reveal the Export Wizard. From this Wizard you can select the date range and type of files to save. At the bottom of the window use the file browse button to create a file and location to save the information. Click Export and the file is created and saved.
You will want to save off a month or quarter prior to the beginning of another month to avoid losing any history. As an example...we are in the month of March. You should save the month of February 2007 now. |
We have recently updated our preventive maintenance recommendations to include items you should check monthly and quarterly on your system. These items have been converted into a Maintenance Checklist that you can download and use to make sure your system is operating properly. A separate document on Computer Maintenance has also been updated. Please get copies of these and use them as guidance for maintaining your system. |
| How to Avoid Power Issues
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Power spikes and dirty power that cause untimely shut-downs and potential damage are not covered under any warranty. To make sure you are protected, all computers and servers plus other valuable equipment should be on one or more UPS units that are large enough to support the combined electrical load of the group. If you need to maintain power regardless of any outage experienced you will need a generator. However, for most facilities the important action is an orderly shut down of components to avoid damage.
VLM is equipped with a UPS Shutdown program for MGE units that will begin an orderly shutdown process when a power outage is detected. Once an outage or alarm is detected we begin an orderly shut-down of the Servers and Encoders and then Master Control. For more information contact your Region Manager or Field Service. |
