Daylight Saving Time and the Time Display ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~      On August 8, 2005, President Bush signed the Energy Policy Act of 2005. This Act changed the dates for Daylight Saving Time (DST) in the United States. Starting in 2007, DST changed to the second Sunday in March to begin DST and the first Sunday in November to revert back to Standard Time.

In 2007 we released a document on how to update the patches available from Microsoft to implement automatic updates of DST in Windows NT, 2000 and XP Pro.  These updates are acceptable for all Synergy Broadcast Systems products except those running VLM that manage a broadcast schedule.  In those situations you need to do an operator assisted time change.  To review the document from 2007 with the procedures necessary to accomplish an operator assisted time change click DST2007A new document for the 2008 Daylight Saving Time update is also available.

BUGCRAWLER, INFORMA AND FIREBIRD

All three products ship with the Daylight Saving Time option checked so if you purchased your BugCrawler, Informa or FireBird prior to March of 2007 you only need to install the patch from Microsoft to enable the automatic time change.  We will provide a step-by-step procedure to customer's who received shipments prior to March 07 so you can install the patch and have the time switch automatically.  That way if you use the Time Object it will display properly as the time officially changes.

If you have any problems with the above items or need further clarification please call us at 800-601-6991 and ask for Customer Service.

Schedule a Project Just Like a Video Program
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
One of the great features about integrating VLM with BugCrawler, Informa or FireBird is the ability to schedule a specific project just as you would a video program.  This eliminates the switch to scroll that is necessary with most CG's and provides greater scheduling flexibility.  To schedule any project as a specific play event you start by selecting MZOD as the Device Type and then simply schedule as you do any other Event.
Begin thinking about your projects as programs and use the flexibility built into Informa and FireBird to enhance the look and feel of your channel.
Organize Your Finished Projects in VLM
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Use the Video Catalog to organize your finished Projects and Templates.  Create a Category called MZOD's or Projects.  Then create a few subcategories to organize your various Projects by type or department.  As an example, if you are a City Channel you can have subcategories for Emergency Projects; City Council Announcements; P & Z Announcements; Utility Updates, PSA's; and so on.  An Educational Broadcaster might have Emergency Projects; Club Announcements; Calendar Updates; School Board Meetings; etc.
