Transitions - Size Does Matter

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Transitions can be used to affect the Position, Size, and Opacity of an object or image in Informa and FireBird.  The size of an object can have a big impact on your overall project's look and feel so its important to be able to modify the size of any object on the Draw Screen.
There are several ways to impact size with Informa Create:
  1. Manual Data Entry: Select the object and click on the Wrench in the tool bar to reveal the Modify Image Properties box.  This box displays the object's Native Image Size; the Current Size as it appears on the Draw Screen and also provides a box to modify the image with X and Y fields for the New Size of the image.  A check box is available to maintain the object's aspect ratio if resized.
  2. Drag to Size:  When you select an image a red outline surrounds the object.  Move the mouse over the red border and the pointer will change to left/right, up/down or diagonal arrows.  Click the mouse to then drag the image either larger or smaller to the size needed.
  3. Size Transition:  You can also transition the image or object with animation to make the object increase or decrease in size to add visual interest to a project.
To create a size transition where the image grows on the screen:
  1. Start by grabbing your image and placing it on the Draw Screen.
  2. For our example let's add a blue square and have it grow on the screen and make that transition in 1.5 seconds.
  3. Position the image on the Draw Screen and use the mouse to reduce the size of the object to the starting size.  For this example the size has been reduced to 5 x 5 and I want to grow this object to 200 x 200 and make that move in 1.5 seconds or 90 frames.
  4. With the image located and sized on the Draw Screen now move the mouse to the Time Line and click on the Down Arrow for the object to reveal the Transtion lines for Position, Size and Opacity.  Click on Size to create a Size Transition.
  5. Right click on the transition and select Manual Data Entry.
  6. Enter the new size: 200 x 200 in the New Values fields.
  7. Enter the start frame to begin the transition. Example frame 1.
  8. Enter the duration of the transition.  In this case 1.5 seconds equals 90 frames.
  9. Close the Transition Time Line and click the Play button in the tool bar to watch the move you just created.
Practice and experiment with this transition and you will begin to see the possibilities.  This feature can add a significant enhancement to many projects.
Transitions - BugCrawler and Object Size
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

BugCrawler is handled a little differently in that there is only one screen and one transition.  First, grab an object and put it on the Draw Screen.  Click on the Wrench in the Tool Bar to size the image.  If you want to create a size transition similar to Informa use the Wrench to set the initial starting size of the object.  Next, select the Clock to set the lifespan and target image size.  If you select End on Project Completion at the bottom it will leave the image on the screen until the project ends.  If this is not checked, the image will disappear from the screen after the re-size is completed.
