Patient Education System

MMDS or Medical Media Delivery System is Synergy Broadcast's Patient and Staff Education.  MMDS was the very first video on demand system for hospitals introduced in 1990 by Synergy Broadcast (formerly TiltRac Corporation).  The original MMDS systems used the TiltRac Videotape Robots but MMDS was introduced as an MPEG2 Digital System in 1998.  Hospital Television has progressed beyond basic cable and offerings today include premium channels and video on demand so the patient's experience is similar to their home system.  Patient education has also progressed with educational video programs that are now available in multiple languages and produced in a manner to meet the most basic comprehension capabilities.

Video Education cannot replace discussions with the nursing staff or the doctor but can be used to supplement their information.  Video on demand provides educational material to patients when they are ready and willing to learn, regardless of time of day or staffing.  Family members can also benefit from video on demand by watching educational programs with the patient and then following up with the doctor or nurse with questions that will help the patient or the after-care.

MMDS CONFIGURATIONS
Today, MMDS is available in a variety of configurations and suitable for every facility from small renal and cancer clinics to large hospitals for providing patient education and staff training as a supplement to face-to-face training from nursing, educators and trainers.  Each MMDS system is developed for the specific needs of each facility and includes a migration path for future expansion.  Popular options include:

MMDS INTERFACE OPTIONS
MMDS offers five interface options:

  • Scheduling by an Administrator

  • Phone Interface for Patient or Staff access

  • Pillow Speaker access (requires a multi-button interactive Pillow Speaker

  • Touch Screen Interface for personal bedside TV's

  • Computer interface using a wireless keyboard

MMDS FEATURES
In addition to being easy-to-use and available in a variety of configurations MMDS offers several key advantages:

  • Multi-lingual phone messages and instructions

  • It's easy to convert taped programming to digital programming

  • Programming is available from multiple sources

  • The system works with your existing infrastructure (i.e. cable, TV's, network, phone system)

  • MMDS can interface with your ADT and Patient Records systems to automatically record patient activity

  • The system can alert nursing when a patient has watched a program

  • The system has a Survey and Testing option to survey patients as well as test their comprehension of any video program they watch.  Results can be sent to nursing for follow up and remedial attention if necessary.

  • MMDS is a digital system so your IT Department can manage the technical aspects of the system.

  • MMDS will work with standard televisions, new digital LCD and HD sets as well as new touch screen TV's.

  • Interface can be blended to handle any infrastructure.  That means you can have a system that uses the phone and Pillow Speaker interface for wall mounted TV's and the Touch Screen for personal TV's.
