Patient Education System
MMDS or Medical Media Delivery System is Synergy Broadcast's Patient and Staff Education. MMDS was the very first video on demand system for hospitals introduced in 1990 by Synergy Broadcast (formerly TiltRac Corporation). The original MMDS systems used the TiltRac Videotape Robots but MMDS was introduced as an MPEG2 Digital System in 1998. Hospital Television has progressed beyond basic cable and offerings today include premium channels and video on demand so the patient's experience is similar to their home system. Patient education has also progressed with educational video programs that are now available in multiple languages and produced in a manner to meet the most basic comprehension capabilities. Video Education cannot replace discussions with the nursing staff or the doctor but can be used to supplement their information. Video on demand provides educational material to patients when they are ready and willing to learn, regardless of time of day or staffing. Family members can also benefit from video on demand by watching educational programs with the patient and then following up with the doctor or nurse with questions that will help the patient or the after-care.
