Digital Signage and CG Products

Remember the term bulletin board?  Not the one used for thumbtacks and school photos but the one used to display simple messages for display on televisions?  The graphically challenged bulletin board has seen a resurgence with new names and new purposes.  Typical names for the old bulletin board are: digital signage, channel signage, digital bulletin board, narrowcasting, datacasting, multi-media channel, in-store channel, hospitality channel and messaging channel.

What the new digital bulletin board represents is a technological leap in the way we present graphics and information on television.  That television may be the one in our homes or the one hanging on the wall in our local store or found in city hall or our school buildings or hospitals.  No longer just the domain of the local access channel or hotel, digital signage is now found where-ever people congregate to provide them with information, news, weather, Homeland Security updates, Amber Alerts and more.

Synergy Broadcast has created a family of graphics products to meet the needs of a variety of facilities and uses.  BugCrawler, Informa and FireBird are based on the same architecture but each product serves a specific need.  In addition we've developed a multi-screen solution for FireBird and Informa that can be used in network-based digital signage solution for schools, retailers, hospitals and similar multi-facility environments.

BugCrawler is used as a downstream product and provides eight layers of text and graphics so you can insert your full color or transparent logo, display TV ratings, run crawls, scrolls, alerts and more.  BugCrawler makes it easy to display professional looking projects, insert bugs and logos and run multi-layered graphics effects over your on-air programming.

Informa is designed to run as a full screen CG and can also provide a "video in a window" or video squeeze feature as well as downstream functionality.  Informa also has the added benefit of being able to display complex tables and information.

FireBird combines the graphics capability of BugCrawler and Informa with Video Server capability to provide a Broadcast Server that can play MPEG2, DV, DVD-VOB and Windows Media files and also display logos, lower third's, crawls, scrolls and full screen CG projects.  FireBird can also serve as an emergency backup server to your MPEG2 Broadcast Server. 

Using VLM (Synergy Broadcast’s Automation Software) events can be triggered as part of the automation system.  Bugs can be set to display in a sequence or a timed activity along with TV Ratings.  Crawls, Scrolls or “You are Watching” templates can also be scheduled to pop up during a show.  You create the template and the VLM software uploads the text from the title database to totally automate the process thus saving huge amounts of operator time manually typing this information.
